2011 AWP Conference in Washington, D.C.

This year’s AWP (Association of Writers and Writing Programs) Annual Conference and Bookfair was held earlier this month, February 3-6, in Washington, D.C.

As always, representatives from Seattle Pacific University’s MFA were on hand to greet prospective students and answer questions about our program.

Each year, AWP holds its Annual Conference and Bookfair in a different region of North America in order to celebrate the outstanding authors, teachers, writing programs, literary centers, and small press publishers of that region. The Annual Conference typically features 350 presentations: readings, lectures, panel discussions, and forums plus hundreds of book signings, receptions, dances, and informal gatherings. The conference attracts more than 8,000 attendees and more than 500 publishers.

Next year’s conference will be held February 29-March 3 in Chicago, IL. Find out more about the event and how to register here. You’ll find us there!

If you missed this year’s conference, never fear. The SPU MFA website’s FAQ page will answer all your basic questions about our program. And if you need additional information, contact program coordinator Dyana Herron at 206-281-2727, or at herrod@spu.edu.
