Like food and drink, work is nourishment. Work is enjoyable when it’s good for the soul. It’s soul-food.
They are stunned, these friends of Jesus. Gobsmacked. Flummoxed. They have been walking with the resurrected god-man Jesus, and now he’s gone.
Playing it safe for the sake of a career is like staying behind in the dark, a sure path to stumbling.
To a certain extent, the gift of work is outwardly focused, bringing healing and restoration to a hurting world. But it has internal implications, too. Part of the goodness of work is that we are renovated through it and by it.
